"Our mission is to offer mind/body classes that will enhance your life - from the inside out. From the moment you enter the studio, you will instantly know why I decided to call it Breathe Joy. The serene environment sets the tone for the next hour - a special place where you can simply "breathe joy." Hatha yoga, an ancient healing art that links the breath to movement, has brought joy to my life. I hope it will do the same for you" -- Robyn Parets, director of Breathe Joy Yoga
Breathe Joy teachers:
Robyn Parets, RYT, certified yoga teacher and director of Breathe Joy Yoga
Robyn Parets, a registered Hatha yoga teacher through the Yoga Alliance, trained at Maha Yoga Center in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. A journalist (www.robynparets.net) with many well-known publications, including the Los Angeles Times, Inc. Magazine Group, and Investor's Business Daily, Robyn found her way to yoga several years ago when her life was interrupted by a neurological disorder. Her illness left her severely weakened, depressed, and suffering from panic attacks. Yet, through her dedicated yoga and pranayama practice, Robyn rediscovered her inner-strength and innate ability to heal. Now devoted to yoga, Robyn inspires students to tap into their own healing potential (physical, mental and/or spiritual).
She incorporates vinyasa flow yoga as well as the teachings of Ashtanga yoga's Pattabhi Jois into her uplifting and energizing classes, which are often taught to rhythmic world music (and sometimes pop & soul!) -- helping inspire her students to open their hearts and deepen their yoga practices.
Robyn launched Pretzel Kids TM in 2004, which incorporates Hatha yoga postures with fun, imaginative games and relaxation techniques for children and teens. In addition to directing programming and teaching at Breathe Joy Yoga, Robyn runs the 200-hour registered Yoga Alliance teacher training program at Breathe Joy Yoga and is a featured guest teacher at New Age Health Spa in New York and the Lodge at Woodloch in Pennsylvania, two of the nation's top destination spa resorts.
Robyn is also certified in Meridian Yoga and is a Reiki II practitioner. Her own practice consists of Hatha, Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga -- flowing, traditional yoga styles linking the breath to postures. For Robyn, yoga is a life-changing, joyful practice and she aims to instill a sense of well-being and happiness in her students of all ages.
